Rob D's Blog 20 July 2018 Ray missed the first meeting of the club, the very first meeting. Since he could not attend he asked his friend Paul to attend and find out about what was going on. Those two have been in the club ever since. Ray is putting in a crossing at Roscoe. |
Rob D's Blog 24 September 2017 The trolley which will soon be ramming a coal train and delaying a passenger train is heading for Rosco loop. In very odd foreshadowing I talked about an early collision with a street car and a coal train that was discussed in one of my books on the Virginian. It seems the operator of the trolley was on duty for an extensive amount of time as a matter of course. The shifts were long enough that he would sleep on one of the trolley seats between the end of one shift and the start of another. There was not time for him to go home and sleep before he needed to be on duty again. I find it amazing that folks would schedule work in this fashion. Anyway the motorman fell asleep and hit a coal train. In the real accident there were some folks that survived but many were killed. This was an event that if memory serves happened before 1920. |
