Rob D's Blog 27 May 2018 Here is one of my favorite train watching spots on the club layout. From my nicely padded stool I can sit and watch my train over most of the layout. My views involve up close views such as the one above where they are inches away, to long range views looking off in the distance where the end of my train can be seen. |
Rob D's Blog 06 March 2017 One of the difficulties of taking photographs, while running two trains and answering the occasional question is the subject of the photograph being on the move is sometimes hard to catch at just the right moment. I snapped lots of photos that did not make the cut. Above I got a shot of Bob A's train coming though the town of Hickeyville. |
Rob D's Blog 26 June 2016 While he was cleaning treads I snapped a photo of a coal train winding through the company town of Hickeyville. It is named after Leroy who built the town and lots of the structures as I understand it. I suspect there are other modelers that contributed as well. |
Rob D's Blog 23 January 2016 This is the metropolis of Hickeyville, named after its creator Leroy. Leroy did not want it named after him but I felt he deserved the honor and the name stuck. Ray recently installed the crossing and if you remember the photo where he and Bob were sitting at the table and Ray was doing something with ties. Well this is what he was doing.
This is not a wood kit just pieces of wood cut and stained and fitted into the gentle curve where the crossing is. Ray seems to love these detail projects and he does a great job of it.
Leroy's culverts will need to be trimmed as well. Might need some more work as well as they seem to be above the bottom of the ditch a quick way for undermining to occur. |
